LurkAlert is built and operated by Computer Helper. We take the privacy of our customers seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it — in plain English, without the legalese.

Who We Are

LurkAlert is a remote access scam monitoring service operated by Computer Helper, a family-run technology company based in Georgia. You can reach us at info@lurkalert.com or by calling 770.841.2962.

What Information We Collect

When you sign up for LurkAlert, we collect:

  • Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and billing address.
  • Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Device information — basic details about the computer being monitored, such as operating system version and computer name.
  • Alert data — records of monitoring events, including what was detected and when.
  • Communications — messages you send us through our contact form or by email.

We also collect anonymized website usage data through Google Analytics (such as pages visited and time on site) to help us improve the website. This data does not identify you personally.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver and operate the LurkAlert monitoring service
  • Contact you or your designated trusted contact when an alert is triggered
  • Process your subscription and manage billing
  • Respond to your questions and support requests
  • Improve our service and website

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising purposes.

How We Share Your Information

We share your information only when necessary to operate the service:

  • Stripe — handles payment processing. Your billing information is transmitted to Stripe under their privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics — receives anonymized website usage data.
  • Syncro RMM — the remote monitoring and management platform we use to deliver the LurkAlert service. Syncro receives device information and alert data in order to detect threats and enable our team to respond. Syncro’s privacy policy governs their handling of this data.
  • Your designated trusted contact — if you have named someone to receive alert notifications, we will contact them when an alert is triggered.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and alert history for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel your account, you may request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us at info@lurkalert.com. We will honor deletion requests promptly, except where we are required to retain records by law.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Opt out of any future marketing communications

Minors

LurkAlert is intended for use by adults. Individuals under 18 may use the service only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without parental consent. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information without consent, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we are committed to protecting your data with appropriate safeguards.

Remote Access and Your Consent

When a LurkAlert alert is triggered and our team needs to connect to your computer to investigate or respond, we will never access your computer remotely without your explicit permission. Before any remote session begins, you will see a prompt on your screen asking you to approve the connection. We only connect after you accept. You are in control at every step.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we will notify active subscribers by email.
